What Is BaZi?
BaZi (八字), also known as the Four Pillars of Destiny, is a Chinese system of personality and life analysis based on your birth date and time. Rooted in 2,000 years of astronomical observation, it maps the interaction of Five Elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water) at the moment of your birth to reveal personality patterns, career aptitudes, relationship dynamics, and life phases.
Frequently Asked Questions
- What is BaZi?
- Your birth year, month, day, and hour each convert into one heavenly stem and one earthly branch. Those four pairs are the Four Pillars — eight characters in all, which is what BaZi means.
- What does each pillar mean?
- The year pillar covers family and early life, the month pillar parents and career, the day pillar yourself and marriage, the hour pillar children, later years, and inner world. The day pillar's stem is your Day Master — it represents you, and every other relationship is read from it.
- What if I don't know my exact birth time?
- Use 12:00 noon as a placeholder. The year, month, and day pillars stay accurate, and both your Day Master and Spouse Palace come from the day pillar, so they are unaffected. The hour pillar and the detail it carries are reduced. Ask family or check your birth record if you can.
- Does BaZi predict specific events?
- No. It gives you structure and timing — your temperament, your relationship patterns, which stretches favour pushing forward or holding back. It is not event prophecy.
- Is GuanWei BaZi free?
- Chart casting and the Chart Overview are free, no signup. Life Book, Fortune Book, Compatibility, and Annual Fortune are $19.99 each.
