How a Closed Storage Pattern Can Be Opened in BaZi

A BaZi chart may contain a storage branch whose contents have been sealed off. The chart still has the resource it needs, but that resource cannot provide its expected support until the storage opens.

How Storage Becomes Sealed

Take Xu, an earth branch that serves here as fire storage. Suppose the original chart already contains Si, a fire branch, and Wu, another fire branch. They give the favorable fire a firm root. Xu is then useful because its stored fire can keep supplying strength, perhaps helping balance the chart’s heat and cold.

But the arrival of Mao, a wood branch, changes the arrangement. Mao forms a Combination with Xu, binding the two branches together. This Mao-Xu combination controls and seals the Xu storage, cutting off access to the fire inside.

A Clash can open the storage. Yet this does not mean every Clash opens every storage branch in a useful way.

A Clash Works Only When the Storage Has Something to Release

In this example, Si and Wu have already rooted fire in the original chart. The Xu storage therefore contains something the chart can use. Under those conditions, a Clash may open it and release the stored fire.

Chen, an earth branch, can clash with Xu. Once the Chen-Xu Clash opens the storage, fire becomes strong again.

Those roots are the deciding factor. If the original chart has no rooted, favorable element connected to the storage, clashing with that storage accomplishes nothing useful. Opening an empty or unusable store does not create the missing support.

What the Released Fire Can Bring

The result depends on what fire represents among the Ten Gods in that chart. If fire represents the Resource stars, which stand for support and recognition here, helpful people may appear. Someone may appreciate your ability, promote you, or give you a chance.

If fire represents the Officer role, associated here with career, and the chart favors it, your work may begin to improve.

If fire represents the output stars, connected here with intelligence and commercial ability, you may become sharper, try your hand at business, and perhaps turn a profit.

So a Clash tends to help when the sealed storage contains a favorable element that already has roots in the chart. If that favorable element lacks roots, clashing with the sealed storage still has no useful effect.
